Cobra 2 Leg Chain Sling Grade 8 Information

The short link chain used in these Cobra 2 leg chain slings have a black electrophoresis finish (painted under an electrical charge) offering a good level of protection.

When it comes to link sizes there are 10 to choose from with internal link length from 18mm to 96mm and overall external link widths from22.2mm up to 118mm. All the dimensions can be found in the specifications.

2 leg chain slings can be used in standard straight set ups or basket hitches.

You should always pay attention to the angle the sling makes and reduce the WLL if necessary according to the sling usage charts.(see download in documentation above).

There are typically 2 WLL variations when angles come into play; when angles are between 0-45 degrees and 45-60 degrees. For example an 8mm 2 leg chain sling set up with angles less than 45 degrees the WLL will be 2.80 tonne, but if the angle is more then 45 degrees it reduces to 2.00 tonne; slings must never be used if the angles are above 60 degrees.

End Fittings for 2 Leg Cobra Slings

We have a choice of end fittings suitable for use with these double leg chains which are connected at the top by a grade 8 Cobra master link. Firstly there is the shortening eye grab hook; these are added to the master link and are used to hook back the chain legs if you need them shorter. These shortening hooks provide more options of use as well as being a more cost effective and commonly used alternative to a shortening grab.

Other end fittings for load anchoring include a Clevis self locking hook, a swivel self locking hook, a clevis 'C' hook and Clevis sling hook (probably the most popular).
